10 Personal Things About Me
- I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago.
- I have one sister.
- I met my husband when we were 13 but we didn't start dating until we were 18.
- As of November 19th, 2015, my husband and I will be married 10 years.
- I became a mom for the first time on February 1st, 2012 when I gave birth to my daughter, Catherine Elizabeth.
- I became a mom for the second time on February 13th, 2015 when I gave birth to my daughter, Olivia Grace.
- I love to travel and have been to the majority of the 50 states as well as several countries outside of the United States including Peru, Ireland, Italy, France, Switzerland and England.
- As much as I love to travel, to me, there is no place like home.
- I am obsessed with the TV show, Friends. I have seen every episode at least 100 times.
- I have to have my trenta Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher from Starbucks every morning, no matter what the weather.
10 Professional Things About Me
- I attended the University of Iowa for my undergrad. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Teaching with a Specialization in Mathematics and Minor in Spanish in May of 2003.
- I started teaching in the fall of 2003.
- I taught for 4 years at a private school outside of Chicago (2 years teaching 3rd, 1 year teaching 5th and 1 year teaching 8th grade).
- I began my career in Washoe County in 2007 when I was hired at Clayton Middle School as a part-time art, part-time math teacher.
- I transferred to Traner Middle School in 2009 as a 7th grade math teacher, where I taught math until 2014.
- Since 2014, I have been the on-site Instructional Coach at Traner Middle School.
- I earned my Masters of Arts in Mathematics Teaching with a Specialization in Leadership from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA in July of 2015.
- I was a part of the Nevada Pathway Project from 2009 - 2011.
- I completed the Student Learning Facilitator (SLF) program in 2010.
- I was named one of Northern Nevada Math Council's Outstanding Math Educators in 2013.
